A Tribute to Tal Farlow
Guitar great Tal Farlow was honored by his peers in a tribute concert at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City on June 24, 1996. Farlow, who turned 75 June 7, is considered to be one of the leading bebop guitarists of his generation. His soft-spoken and reserved manner belie his breathtaking speed and agility (he’s been nicknamed The Octopus), melodic inventiveness and pleasingly gentle touch.
Over a dozen of the world’s finest jazz guitarists performed including Herb Ellis, Remo Palmier, Howard Alden, Attila Zoller and a special appearance by famed Johnny Smith.
